About
Who are these subscribers, and why do they rule?
Well, they’re you, and your friends, and your family, and pretty much anybody with an inbox for email, text messages or voicemail. Each of those environments belongs to you as an individual, and ultimately, you decide who gains and retains admission.
You punish those who send unsolicited messages by hitting the Delete or Report Spam buttons. However, you also reward those who honor your permission and deliver you content that’s timely and relevant to your unique needs and interests.
So who are the people behind this SUBSCRIBERS RULE! blog?
We’re a few of the folks at ExactTarget, a company dedicated to helping marketers deliver permission-based, email and other forms of digital communications to their subscribers, customers, and partners. We hate spam as much as you do, and we want to help all marketers to understand that email, SMS, and other one-to-one marketing efforts must be built upon a foundation of permission.
We believe that respect should govern the one-to-one marketing relationship that companies have with their subscribers, and that subscribers must be given the means to dictate and control the manner and frequency by which companies can communicate with them.
Our subscriber-centric philosophy is built upon three simple tenets:
- Serve the individual
- Honor each individual’s unique preferences with regard to communication, content, frequency, and channel
- Deliver subscribers timely, relevant content that improves their lives
Here at www.subscribersrule.com, we plan to explore this subscriber-centric philosophy through analysis and research as well as interviews of thought-leaders and consumers alike. Along the way, we hope to convince the broader marketing community to stop treating email like direct mail and subscribers like lists instead of individuals.
Our focus is on one thing and one thing alone—what the subscriber wants—and it is our unyielding belief that this focus will help us deliver the best results for subscribers and marketers alike. We hope that you’ll join in the conversation!
